Terms of Service

Last updated: 27 September 2026  ·  Version 1.0

1. About These Terms

These terms are the agreement between you and James Bell, who runs Harma (“Harma”, “we”, “us”), based in Sydney NSW 2096, Australia. They apply when you use harma.app or the Harma iPhone app. By creating an account or using Harma, you agree to them.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information. Questions about anything here: hello@harma.app.

2. Who Can Use Harma

  • You must be 18 or older to create an account.
  • Your account is just for you. Please keep your password and email account safe, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has got in.
  • You're responsible for what happens in your account, unless it happened because of something we did wrong.

3. Your Memories Are Yours

You own everything you add to Harma: your photos, videos, voice notes and words. We don't own them, sell them, or use them to train AI.

To run Harma, you give us permission to store, copy, back up and show your memories to the people in your family's vault, and to make smaller versions of photos and videos so they load quickly. This permission is only for running Harma for you and your family, and it ends when your memories are removed (apart from the time they take to clear from our backups, as our Privacy Policy explains).

4. What You Can Add

Please only add things that you have the right to share. Don't use Harma to add or share anything that:

  • is illegal, or breaks someone else's rights, such as their copyright or privacy
  • sexualises or exploits a child in any way. We will report this to the authorities
  • harasses, threatens or bullies anyone
  • contains viruses or anything meant to harm Harma or the people using it

Please also think about the other people in your memories, and only share things they would be comfortable with your family seeing.

Don't try to get into anyone else's vault or account, overload Harma, or copy it in bulk with automated tools.

5. Families and Sharing

  • Everyone you invite to your family can see the memories in your child's vault, and add their own. Only invite people you trust.
  • The person who started the family can remove memories and look after the vault.
  • Memories added to a vault become part of your child's story. If you remove your account, the memories you added stay with your family, shown as from “Family”, unless you remove them first or ask us to. If you're the only person in the family, everything is removed.
  • We can't settle disagreements between family members about a vault. We will follow a court order about one.

6. Keep Your Own Copy

We work hard to keep your memories safe, with encrypted storage and backups. But no service can promise it will never lose anything, and Harma should not be the only place your most precious photos and recordings live. Please keep your originals on your phone or computer, and use “Download everything” in Settings from time to time to keep a full copy of your vault.

7. Looking After the Vault Until Your Child Is Grown

Harma is built to keep memories until your child is ready for them, and that's what we intend to do. But we can't promise that Harma, or any particular feature, will still exist in 18 years, and nothing in Harma is a guarantee that it will.

If we ever decide to close Harma, we will tell you by email at least 90 days beforehand, and make sure you can download everything in your vault before it closes.

8. Free and Paid Plans

  • Harma is free during early access. Before we start charging anyone, we'll email you at least 30 days beforehand. You'll never be moved onto a paid plan without choosing it yourself.
  • If we introduce paid plans, we'll always show you the price before you pay, and you'll never be charged without agreeing to it first.
  • If we ever change the price of a plan you're paying for, we'll tell you at least 30 days beforehand, and you can cancel before the change.
  • If you stop paying, you will not lose the memories you've already saved.
  • The Harma iPhone app is free and has no purchases in it.

9. Changes to Harma

We're always improving Harma, so features will change over time. If we make a change that takes away something important you rely on, we'll tell you before it happens.

10. Leaving, and Suspending Accounts

You can stop using Harma and remove your account at any time in Settings.

We may suspend or close an account if it breaks these terms in a serious way, if the law requires it, or to protect other people or Harma's security. Unless it's urgent or the law stops us, we'll tell you first, explain why, and give you a chance to download your memories.

11. Your Rights Under Consumer Law

Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer law that can't be excluded, including the consumer guarantees in the Australian Consumer Law, and your rights under UK, EU or New Zealand consumer law if you live there. These terms only limit things as far as the law allows.

12. Our Responsibility to You

We provide Harma with reasonable care and skill. Apart from that, and your rights in Section 11, Harma is provided as it is and as available. We can't promise it will always be available, or free of errors.

As far as the law allows:

  • we are not responsible for losses that weren't a foreseeable result of something we did wrong, or for loss of profits or business opportunity
  • our total responsibility to you for anything to do with Harma is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the problem happened, or AUD $100

None of this limits our responsibility for anything the law doesn't allow us to limit, such as fraud, or death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

13. The iPhone App

If you use the Harma app from Apple's App Store, Apple's standard app terms apply as well. These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for Harma or its support, and has no obligation to maintain it.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms as Harma grows. For important changes, we'll email you at least 30 days before they take effect. If you don't agree, you can remove your account and download your memories before then.

15. The Law That Applies

These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia. If you live somewhere else, you also keep the protections your local law gives you, and can bring a claim in your local courts.

If something goes wrong, please email us first at hello@harma.app. Most things can be sorted out quickly and kindly.
